In two words...

I'm a Belgian researcher working at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, based in Ispra (VA), Italy, where I manage the  European Commission's Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity (KCBD). I have been working for more than 20 years on environmental  (radioactivity, air quality, biodiversity) monitoring issues of the environment, with a focus of monitoring network optimisation using geostatistics  and web based geographic information systems (GIS).
My current efforts are focusing on the science-policy interface in support to biodiversity, helping policy makers to get access to the right information and supporting the scientific community in getting their findings used in policies.
I am also an amateur wildlife photographer and you will find on this web site a few pictures,  tips and tricks I have learnt while being out in the field. My pictures are free of use for no commercial purposes provided the objective is to support conservation efforts.
More recently I started a campaign to raise awareness on the importance of biodiversity by giving talks in the municipalities of the area where I currently live.
You can find me mainly on LinkedIn
